چکیده

Data from the population-based registries at Bangalore, Bombay, and Madras indicate paediatric cancer frequencies varying from 37% to 4% 23 In Dibrugarh in north-eastern India and Chandigarh in the north-west the frequency was 2-48%. International comparisons of cancer incidence are potentially fraught by variability in diagnosis, classification, and coding practices, by competing causes of death, by differential access to medical care, and by incomplete registration, so patterns need cautious interpretation. Leukaemia is the leading type of cancer and malignant tumours of the CNS are the second most common cancer in childhood in several countries.2,-u, Lymphomas are the

SUSCEPTIBILITY OF HUMAN WM MELANOMA CELL LINES TO NK AND LAK CYTOTOXICITY AND THEIR RELEVANCE TO THE LEVEL OF MHC CLASS I AND ICAM-l ANTIGEN EXPRESSION

The effect of natural killer (NK) cells and lymphokine activated killer ( LAK) cells was studied on a group of human melanoma cell lines. Peripheral blood from healthy volunteers was utilized as a fresh source of natural killer cells and rhI L-2 for producing LAK cells. The cytotoxicity of effector cells was quantified using a 4 hour SI determining the density of antigen expression on tumor...

Interaction of fibrinogen with murine melanoma cells: covalent association with cell membranes and protection against recognition by lymphokine-activated killer cells.

B16/F10 melanoma cells, in a medium containing fibrinogen, form a coating of fibrin(ogen) on their surfaces. This coating is cross-linked in a manner characteristic of catalysis by cellular transglutaminase. The fibrin(ogen) coating on the surface of these tumor cells provides protection against the lytic effect of autologous lymphokine-activated killer cells.

Pulmonary toxicity of recombinant interleukin-2 plus lymphokine-activated killer cell therapy.

The aim of the present investigation was to evaluate lung toxicity in 15 patients affected by metastatic melanoma of different sites, and treated with recombinant interleukin-2 (rIL-2) plus lymphokine-activated killer (LAK) cells The treatment regimen included a first and a second course of rIL-2, separated by four consecutive daily leukaphereses. Autologous LAK cells were reinfused during the ...

Interleukin 15 induction of lymphokine-activated killer cell function against autologous tumor cells in melanoma patient lymphocytes by a CD18-dependent, perforin-related mechanism.

Interleukin 15 (IL-15) is a novel cytokine that shares no homology with IL-2, but it requires the use of beta and gamma chains of the IL-2 receptor complex for binding and signaling. In vitro studies have shown induction of CTL and lymphokine-activated killer (LAK) cell activity in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from normal donors by IL-15 against known tumor targets. The present st...

Natural killer cell lines kill autologous beta2-microglobulin-deficient melanoma cells: implications for cancer immunotherapy.

Cancer vaccines used to generate specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes are not effective against tumor cells that have lost or suppressed expression of their class I major histocompatibility complex proteins. This loss is common in some cancers and particularly in metastatic lesions. We show that beta2-microglobulin-deficient class I-negative melanoma variants derived from patients undergoing specif...
